Led by Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe, Daniel and the USC Chamber Singers will be performing the seldom heard Messe de Requiem by 20th Century French composer Alfred Desenclos, joined by organist Weicheng Zhao, director of music at All Saints Episcopal Church. The concert will take place on Sunday Feb. 24 at 5pm at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $15. Daniel will premier a commissioned work by composer Emma Lou Diemer with the USC Oriana Women's Choir. The commissioned work, Evening Promise, is a setting of a poem by Paul Willis, former poet laureate of Santa Barbara. The premier will take place in Oriana's joint concert with the USC Apollo Men's Chorus on April 14, 2018 at USC's Newman Recital Hall.
Daniel will present John Corigliano's Fern Hill (version for choir and chamber orchestra) with musicians of the USC Thornton School of Music. Daniel will share this graduate conducting recital with some of the masters students of the USC Choral program as well. Concert will take place in USC's Jeanette MacDonald Recital Hall at 7:30pm. Admission is free.
Daniel joins DMA colleagues Rina Ritavoiu and Irene Apanovitch-Leites in leading the women of the Oriana Women's Choir in a concert of music by Mendelssohn, Bernstein, Britten, Emma Lou Diemer, and others. The Apollo Men's Chorus will also perform the second half of the concert. Concert to take place in USC's Newman Recital Hall at 8pm.
Daniel will be returning to the USC Thornton School of Music to earn his DMA in Choral Music, Fall 2017
He will serve as Associate Conductor of the Oriana Women's Choir, as well as the graduate student coordinator of the annual USC Winter Gala. Faculty mentors will include Drs. Jo-Michael Scheibe, Nick Strimple, Cristian Grases, Tram Sparks, and Larry Livingston.
